Hydro Jetting
Plumbers have all sorts of cutting-edge technology available to deal with plumbing problems. One of the tools we use here at Agile Plumbing Sewer & Drain, LLC is the hydro jet. Hydro jetting is the process of shooting a high pressure blast of water into a line to clear away clogs. Our licensed and certified plumbers can provide hydro jetting services to residences and businesses throughout the Tucson area.
How Hydro Jetting Works
Hydro jetting is a technique that has actually been around since the 1950s. However, back then, it was prohibitively expensive for most customers, and it required large, heavy pieces of equipment. Modern hydro jets are more compact, effective, and affordable.
Hydro jetting can be used on lateral pipes and drains to clear away stubborn clogs. The first step is to perform a video inspection to identify the cause and location of the clog. One of the main things the plumber will look for is whether the clog could be exacerbated by a broken pipe. If there is a broken pipe, hydro jetting can make the problem worse. Instead, the plumber would recommend fixing the pipe.
Once the plumber determines that hydro jetting is an appropriate solution, he or she will feed a nozzle into the drain or pipe. A blast of water, sometimes up to 35,000 psi, will shoot through the pipe and break up the clog. One of the benefits of hydro jetting versus snaking is that the force of the water is so strong that it effectively scrubs the interior of the pipe or drain.
When to Use Hydro Jetting
Hydro jetting can be used on any drain or pipe with a clog. It’s effective at clearing away grease, sludge, debris, and hair clogs. Here at Agile Plumbing, we often work with customers who have problems with tree roots growing into the line and causing clogs. The force of the water from a hydro jet is so strong that it can cut right through the tree roots and flush away the pieces. Hydro jetting even works on hardened scale buildup on the interior of the pipes.
Why Hydro Jetting Is Better Than Liquid Drain Cleaners
It’s common for people to dump liquid drain cleaners down a slow drain in hopes of clearing away a clog. This might help somewhat, but it won’t clean the pipe the same way that hydro jetting can. Plus, those harsh chemicals can be damaging for the septic system of your home or business. For a deep clean, Agile Plumbing recommends hydro jetting.
